The Key To Success

While on Youtube the other day, I came across an interesting channel known as Ted Talks. I proceed to watch many of their videos until one in particular caught my attention. The video was entitled Angela Lee Duckworth: The key to success? Grit. In this short six minute video, Angela discusses her theory of “grit” in the New York state school system. By definition “grit” is courage and resolve; strengthen of character. Angela explained that students test scores did not fully demonstrate the potential of each student. She came to the conclusion that we need to be teaching our students to set goals for long periods of time, goals that will make them better in the bigger picture. By motivating our youth we will create a stronger, more powerful future for the generations to come. I could not agree more with Angela on this. I too believe that the best time to prepare for the future is now. I believe that the teachers, guardians and friends should encourage youth to make long term goals to help them stay motivated. Having something to work towards helps students to work hard and become better versions of themselves. I strongly believe that success is not derived from IQ but how willing you are to work.

  1. Wow! Is this your writing. I am seriously impressed. You are the first person to post a response and if this is what the class standard will be it is going to be an awesome ride. Well done!
